Bharti is one of India's largest private
sector provider of telecommunication services and is one of the largest
GSM mobile service provider in the country. Bharti maintains a
presence in all 23 licensed areas ("circles") where cellular
service is available to customers in India. Bharti achieved a
listing on the Mumbai and National Stock exchanges in 2002 and is
one of the top ten stocks in India by market capitalization
presently. Fund I has completely exited this investment.
Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd ("GPPL")
GPPL is an all-weather port located on the west coast of
India in the state of Gujarat. The port's infrastructure
is built to world class standards and comprises 4 berths
with a length of 1,075 metres for handling container and
bulk cargo apart from a LPG berth for liquid cargo. GPPL
is managed by its largest shareholder, APM Terminals,
part of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group and one of the
world's largest container terminal operators.
TPIL is the largest specialty printing company in India and is part of the reputed
"India Today" Group. It offers the full range of print-related services extending from digital imaging in pre-press area to circulation management, with operations spread over six locations. The product range covers virtually all commercial print requirements on paper and board including security printing, annual reports, high volume multi-colour magazines, saddle stitched and perfect bound high quality multi-colour calendars, brochures and folders, books in paperback and hardbound, diaries and photo-composed films. TPIL is also a leading player in the publishing BPO space having facilities at four locations in India and one in
Mauritius. Fund I has completely exited this
investment.
New York Life Investment Management India Fund II ("Fund II")
PLL is primarily engaged in the business of (i) laying oil and gas pipelines, (ii) executing composite construction projects, (iii) construction of tanks/terminals and (iv) civil and industrial construction. PLL is the largest pipeline construction company in India and the clear leader in horizontal directional drilling, with a number of subsidiaries in India and overseas. PLL completed an initial public offering of its shares and listed on the Mumbai and National Stock exchanges in December
2005.
Reliance is India's largest private sector integrated power utility company. Reliance has a significant presence in the generation, transmission and distribution of power in the states of Maharashtra, Delhi, Goa, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh. Reliance also has a growing engineering, procurement and construction division (approximately 30% of revenues), which executes both captive and third party projects in the power sector. Reliance is listed on the Mumbai
and National Stock exchanges in India. Fund II has
completely exited this investment.
ABG is the largest private sector shipbuilding yard in India. A leader in the coastal and short sea vessels segment, ABG has a special focus on smaller special purpose vessels including vessels for defence purposes. The Company has constructed
95 specialized and sophisticated vessels in the last 14 years and has achieved a certification by DNV for ISO 9001-2000. It has an increasing export component with 90% of the vessels built in last two years being exported. ABG completed an initial public offering of its shares and listed on the Mumbai stock exchange in November
2005. Fund II has completely exited this investment.
Emaar MGF, a leading real estate developer, is a
joint venture between Emaar Properties PJSC, Dubai
(a Government of Dubai promoted Company) - among the
world's largest real estate companies - and the
Delhi-based MGF Group. Emaar MGF is setting up
integrated townships comprising residential plots,
group housing and villas along with shopping, civic
facilities and amenities, targeted at the upper end
and mid-market segments. It also plans to develop
offices, IT parks, luxury & business hotels,
entertainment zones and special economic zones.
Emaar MGF plans to implement these projects in about
50 cities across India.
